Pubs have long been believed to have a magnetic quality when it comes to students - from the thirstiest fresher to the president of the National Union of Students. Kat Fletcher, the feisty president who was elected on a promise of direct action, plans to spend Christmas day behind the bar in her old local pulling pints. Are the NUS finances really so dire? Or is this just the closest Kat will get to beer and sandwiches in Downing Street?
