An animated hedgehog has won Dundee University student Mark Tennant a dream job as animator for computer games company DMA Design.

Mr Tennant, aged 21, has been studying animation and electronic media in Dundee's School of TV and Imaging. He graduates next month with an honours bachelor of design.

DMA Design, designer of Lemmings and Grant Theft Auto, was impressed by Mr Tennant's ability to animate 1,000 hedgehog spines simultaneously in his short film, Prickly Pair. The film, which won departmental prize for best computer-generated animation, is described as "a character-driven, computer-generated animated short in which two hedgehogs demonstrate contrasting opinions towards the use of the local insect population".
