Natfhe calls for governance ombudsman
Delegates at lecturers' union Natfhe's annual conference have called for an ombudsman to deal with concerns about governance in post-school education. Universities UK was due to publish proposals for an ombudsman by the end of 2000, but a consultation paper is still pending.

Darwin exhibition gets personal
An exhibition offering an insight into the private life of scientist Charles Darwin is to open at Down House near Bromley, Kent, tomorrow. It will focus on Darwin’s daughter, Annie, who died from tuberculosis at the age of 10.
