Boycott is betrayal of our values 2

六月 2, 2006

A boycott to relieve the oppression of Palestinians is sound in principle, but British academics hardly occupy sufficiently high moral ground to encourage sanctions against anyone.

The crashing sound of stones flung within glass houses arises not just from the mere fact of the brutal invasion and occupation of Iraq on the back of British taxes and votes, but also because the links between British universities and the British military are pervasive.

When it comes to academics who should be boycotted because of their role in neo-colonial oppression, British lecturers are right at the head of the queue.
