Established in 1969, François Rabelais University of Tours is named after the French renaissance writer, doctor, humanist, monk and Greek scholar. It was established as part of efforts to modernise and democratise higher education in France after the student protests of May 1968. In keeping with its namesake, the university is a renowned specialist in renaissance studies and boasts a dedicated Centre for Advanced Studies in the Renaissance, as well as a recently added Institute of Technology and the Polytechnical Engineering School. Research at the University is particularly prominent in the areas of social sciences and humanities and food heritage, through a programme at the Institute of European History and Culture of Food. Based in the central western French city of Tours, in the Loire Valley, there are seven campuses: Tanneurs, Tonnellé, Portalis/Deux-Lions, Grandmont, Pont-Volant, Fromont and Emile Zola. Considered one of the most beautiful areas of France and infused with medieval history, Tours is a buzzing city with 40,000 students and is also known as the "garden of France". Tours is 55 minutes by TGV train from Paris and also has an airport with daily flights to and from London. The University of Tours welcomes around 2,700 international students every year, making up more than 10 per cent of its student body, half of which are Erasmus students and half of which come from partner universities outside Europe. Notable alumni include France 3 journalist Marie-Laure Augry, TF1 journalist Harry Roselmack and Philippe Briand, a member of the National Assembly.

The College of Computing at Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P), Benguerir, Morocco, seeks a postdoctoral candidate in wireless sensor networks and the Internet of Things. The successful candidate will join the group of Prof. Youssef Iraqi.  Context Wireless sensor networks (WSNs) and Internet-of-Things (IoT) are among the leading enabling technologies for smart systems (transportation, farming, health, etc.). Therefore, WSNs/IoT have received enormous attention where various communications-related performance metrics were considered, such as reliability, connectivity, throughput, delay, network lifetime, power efficiency, and security. In the literature, WSN design is typically optimized to maximize/minimize one or more of the abovementioned metrics under certain constraints. However, very little work has been performed on system/network optimization while considering the communications requirements jointly with the decision fusion process. This approach will produce novel system, network, and signal designs. Consequently, the project's main objective is to jointly consider communication and data fusion requirements in designing an efficient WSN-IoT system/network. Responsibilities The successful candidate is expected to perform the following tasks: Conduct literature reviews and surveys on the subject. Contribute to developing novel communication designs to optimize the WSN-IoT system/network considering communication and data fusion requirements. Conduct a theoretical analysis of the developed designs. Develop simulations (writing code) to support the theoretical findings. Disseminate results through scientific publications in peer-reviewed journals. Write technical reports according to the project’s deliverables. Assist in the supervision of undergraduate and Ph.D. students. Assist in the preparation of new research proposals. Collaborate with the team members and international academic partners. Qualifications Ph.D. in communications engineering, computer science/engineering, or related fields. Sound publication record in high-impact conferences/journals. Experience in working as a member of a team in a collaborative environment. Strong mathematical and analytical skills. Strong technical background in optimization in wireless communications/networking. Experience with programming languages, especially MATLAB and Python. Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English. Postdoctoral fellow Position in Omics and Soil Microbiome Research (2 years) The Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P) invites applications for a Postdoctoral fellow position to join an interdisciplinary research project focused on metaproteomic analysis of soil microbial communities. This project aims to identify key genes and enzymes involved in mitigating salinity stress and improving soil health and crop productivity. These positions are part of a broader initiative to develop biofertilizers and sustainable agricultural strategies to combat soil degradation and salinization. Research will involve state-of-the-art metaproteomics, bioinformatics, and functional microbiome studies conducted in field trials, greenhouse experiments, and laboratory settings. This role will focus on the interactions between rhizosphere microbiota and plant roots, investigating how microbial enzymes enhance plant stress tolerance under salinity conditions. The successful candidate will: Conduct metaproteomic and genomic sequencing of microbial communities associated with plant roots. Identify microbial enzymes and functional pathways involved in nutrient acquisition and stress adaptation. Analyze plant-microbe interactions in response to salinity stress. Collaborate on biofertilizer development incorporating beneficial microbial enzymes. Required Qualifications: Ph.D. in Microbiology, Bioinformatics, Soil Science, Plant Science, Environmental Science, or a related field. Expertise in microbiome data analysis, metagenomics, or metaproteomics. Proficiency in bioinformatics tools for multi-omics data processing Strong publication record in relevant fields. Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team and collaborate across research groups. Preferred Qualifications: Experience in functional characterization of microbial enzymes. About the Chemical & Biochemical Sciences Green Process Engineering (CBS) The Chemical & Biochemical Sciences Green Process Engineering Department (CBS) is a component of the Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P). The main objective of CBS is to set up a distinctive research-teaching program, of international level, to meet the research and teaching challenges of UM6P, in particular on green and environmental chemistry applied to all aspects of chemical sciences: organic and inorganic chemistry, analytical chemistry, chemical biology, biochemical and thermal reactions. Research at CBS is organized around several major areas, which aim to answer challenging industrial questions, from complex chemical and biochemical reactions to scale-up and validation of process engineering. CBS projects aim at developing in-depth understanding of molecular mechanisms underlying all chemical transformations in order to propose original, and innovative alternatives promoting efficiency, environmental friendliness and sustainability. Job Description As a core component of UM6P, the CBS Department aspires to lead research and teaching at the forefront of innovation. Our scope encompasses green and environmental chemistry across diverse domains: organic and inorganic chemistry, polymer chemistry, analytical chemistry, chemical biology, chemical and biochemical processes, and thermal reactions. Candidate Criteria Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering, Hydrometallurgy or a related field, complemented by a suitable research track record. Expertise in the field of Hydrometallurgy is essential, with demonstrated contributions to chemical and process engineering, substantiated by impactful research and publications.  Proven excellence in teaching and mentorship, evidenced by innovative pedagogical approaches and contributions to student learning and development. Strong communication and collaboration skills, with a passion for interdisciplinary research and innovation.  Alignment with UM6P's mission of promoting sustainable economic development through research and innovation. Supervision/co-supervision experience at Master’s/PhD level.
