Since 2005, the THE Awards have provided a moment to pause, reflect and celebrate the extraordinary achievements of individuals and teams in UK universities. Each year, hundreds of institutions enter categories covering all aspects of university activity, and over 1,200 people gather to celebrate the winners’ achievements at a glittering ceremony – the biggest party in the UK higher education calendar. In shining a spotlight on some of the very best success stories, we hope their work can be rolled out and scaled up so that others can benefit from the innovation, creativity and ingenuity on display.

Universities are extraordinary institutions that transform the lives of their students, produce research that changes the world, and deliver untold benefits to society and economies. At THE, we want to recognise, support and incentivise excellence by shining a light on exceptional achievements. Following its hugely successful launch in 2019, and with the enthusiasm and support from institutions across the continent, this event has quickly become as prestigious as the original THE Awards in the UK and Ireland. By recognising outstanding leadership and institutional performance across a range of categories, we hope to celebrate excellence in Asian higher education in all its diversity.

THE Awards Arab World is the third in our series of events celebrating the very best stories in higher education – stories that rankings do not capture. Launched in 2023, this exciting opportunity shines a light on the inspirational work taking place at higher education institutions in a region that is among the most vibrant and dynamic in the world. Higher education in the Arab World is populated by highly motivated and enthusiastic people whose excellent efforts are driven by a desire to serve the region and the wider world.
