Events and International Hospitality Management (with Placement Year)

This course is designed for people who wish to be effective managers and practitioners in events and hospitality. Throughout the course you will get the opportunity to engage in real events and activities to develop both theoretical and practical skills. York has a number of world renowned events such as the Ebor race meeting, the Tour de Yorkshire and Viking festival and has recently been designated a UNESCO City of Media Arts. In year one you will develop key knowledge of the business environment and where hospitality and events fit. This knowledge will be enhanced in years two and three during which you will develop key specialist knowledge around event planning and development and how to organise and manage events. You will be expected to be involved in planning for and running events both within the University environment and the city / region. Upon graduation you should be equipped with the skills and knowledge to work in the events and hospitality field and take responsibility for actual events.
