Education Studies and Sociology - York St John University

Through the study of education, in its many guises, we will ask questions and seek answers. Our first question might be ‘What is education?’ Think for a second about this. What comes into your head? What does it mean to be educated? What would an educated person look like? Or act like? What does it mean when we say that we have had a good education? The Education Studies & Sociology programme will help you to discover the answers to these and other questions. Sociology will give you the opportunity to explore and address issues that are relevant to your life in a global society. Although we are all individual, we live, work and play in social groups and the social world does much to shape who we are. In addition, the social world is constantly changing and it is this which makes sociology such an exciting and interesting discipline to study. Sociology is a discipline that will change the way you look at the world and the way in which you understand your life.
