Bachelor of Arts (Honours) Criminology is concerned with the study of crime, diversity and equity, criminal justice, crime prevention, punishment, rehabilitation and victimology. Students acquire proficiency in using criminological theories and methods to analyse complex social problems related to crime and deviance. They develop a sound understanding of various theoretical perspectives and are trained in the qualitative and quantitative research methods used by criminologists. Students develop a critical knowledge of the relationship between theory and empiricism, and apply methods appropriate to the study of criminology as they initiate, design, plan, and execute research. There is an emphasis on the development of reasoned thought and action, and of transferable critical thinking skills.
