Sports Coaching for Participation and Performance Development (including Foundation Year)

The dynamic lecture environment will support and challenge students to engage with all aspects of the coaching process including hands on practical coaching, physiology, psychology, performance analysis and coaching pedagogy. Lecturers are research active, which means that the curriculum is engaging, current and relevant. The staff team includes specialists who have extensive applied knowledge and practical experience of working with a range of sports from grass-roots to world class international level. Excellent student support from approachable staff. Students engage on a journey which takes them from personal development in the early part of their degree to professional development as they progress through the course. Additionally students have the opportunity to gain applied experience working with in a variety of performance settings. Extensive links with partners provide students with the opportunity to apply for coaching awards and professional qualifications. Excellent facilities including: Colliers Park training ground, international hockey stadium, sports centre and more. 100% of graduates go on to work and/or study within 6 months of finishing the course (UNISTATS 2015). The degree is designed with an inclusive vision that everyone can play a role in coaching from informal participation to high performance contexts.
