Hospitality, Tourism and Event Management (including Foundation Year)

Tourism has been a staple of British industry for many decades, with both domestic and overseas visitors enjoying the delights of the UK, from its beautiful scenery and landmarks to our world-famous attractions and monuments. The sector is changing and is one of the fastest-growing in the country, and this degree brings new elements of tourism to the fore, combining customer service and hospitality with event management and other key factors related to the entertainment arena. The success of this degree was reflected in the 2015 National Student Survey, which revealed that 88% of our business students felt they had significantly improved their level of personal development and confidence. We achieve this by working closely with them to understand their abilities and areas for improvement in order to harness their individual potential. The modules are stimulating and thought provoking, covering essential topics as well as specialist business themes. Our degree provides practical opportunities to develop students’ creativity, resourcefulness, curiosity and ability to contribute to the ongoing growth of tourism in the UK. Field trips and real-life practical projects are a key component, as are guest lectures from industry leaders. We are passionate about excellence for all of our students and that is reflected in their grades. In the first semester of the 2015/16 academic year, more than 85% of North Wales Business School students achieved a 2:1 or above, which is higher than the national average and proves that our focus is not only on delivering cutting-edge and relevant degrees, but also supporting our students to gain the best possible results.
