Education Studies and Mathematics

This course will equip you with both the analytical problem solving skills of the mathematician and a critical understanding of the field of education and the various approaches and debates that characterise the field in contemporary society. You will benefit from the formal and rigorous approach of mathematics and from the opportunity to explore some of the historical, social, political and psychological ideas and theories that inform the practice of education in a range of settings. This will allow you consider what best practice might look like with regard to teaching and learning and curriculum development with regard to mathematics.
