Creative & Professional Writing and History

Studied as Joint Honours, Creative & Professional Writing and History provide you with exciting opportunities to combine very different types of learning. In tandem with developing your writing for creative and professional contexts, you will be involved in research and writing associated with academic study in the humanities. You will be combining academic investigation of the processes and practices by which we understand historical events, contexts and phenomena with ‘practice-based’ enquiry into writing itself. As you progress, you may choose to select modules that maintain a wide-ranging approach across the two courses or, alternatively, you can hone and focus in on particular topics, creating opportunities to develop extended projects that bring your interests closer together. In combination, Creative & Professional Writing and History will be an interesting prospect if writing is your obsession and if aspects of history and the lives and events of other times are what excite your curiosity.
