**The landscape of the game industry is changing, with an increasing focus on the gamer experience fuelling a boom in the indie games market. In today’s industry, small teams of developers can achieve great success with unique gaming experiences that capture the imagination.** Our course emphasises a player-centred approach to game design, equipping you with a range of practical skills and insights to become a designer of innovative and exciting gaming experiences. It also empowers you with the technical skills required to develop those gaming experiences into playable and potentially commercial products. You will work in such areas as graphics rendering, game engine development and digital storytelling. - The course is industry-focused and is designed and delivered by computer games experts and professional game developers with significant experience in iconic organisations including the BBC. - The course is mapped against the national occupational standards for Games and Interactive Media and the International Game Developer Association’s curriculum framework. - 24/7 access to excellent IT facilities, including dedicated PC and mac labs featuring industry-standard software. - Option to take a 1-year paid placement, engage in client-based consultancy projects, develop software for clients through the Business School’s Media Lab, or ‘earn as you learn’ by setting up as a freelancer. - Option to start your own computer games development business through the Business School’s Incubator.
