In the core and option modules in English, we will enhance your understanding and appreciation of literature. You will acquire subject specific knowledge and more general skills, including knowledge of a variety of different kinds of literary texts from a range of different periods. In your film modules we aim to build your knowledge of history and theory of the moving image as well as helping you develop a comprehensive set of advanced skills in audio-visual production. Additionally, you will gain valuable work experience in your second year, in a placement related to your core literary interests or in the area with which you are combining English. Students typically gain work in publishing, radio or film. By combining a critical understanding of English literature and digital moving image production, you will gain transferable skills for a range of careers in film, television, publishing, journalism, radio broadcasting, research and new media. You may also wish to undertake postgraduate study to specialise in a subject you've already studied, or to explore something new.
