Sociology with Psychology

This course has been designed to give a thorough understanding of sociology, it theories, applications and research methodology as well its interconnections with the related discipline of psychology; this course is structured as a major/minor combination; the majority of the teaching is in sociology, including the opportunity to carry out a 3rd year sociology project, with supplementary and complementary psychology modules which add to your understanding of modern society and its relationship to the social actions of individuals and groups. The BSc(Hons) Sociology with Psychology degree is an exciting and innovative three year full-time course which can also be studied on a part-time basis. Sociology at UWE makes a difference through its 'applied' quality in two ways. Firstly, its teaching and research is applicable to the 'real' and changing world particularly through our specialisms, which include: Culture and Social Anthropology; Identity; Belief Systems; Deviance and Crime; Employment and Work Experience; Social-Psychological Processes; Social Diversity; Virtual Reality, Cyberspace and Social Media; Health and Well-being; The Family; Political Sociology. Secondly our Sociology is 'applied' by way of offering practical as well as academic skills that provide a head start in the competitive career marketplace. Studying Sociology at UWE offers you the opportunity of engaging with some of the leading scholars in their fields and in a friendly atmosphere. The Sociology team is comprised of experienced and supportive lecturers and researchers dedicated to a high quality BA programme offered to students from diverse backgrounds.
