This course is designed to give a thorough understanding of psychology, its theories, applications and a wide variety of research approaches to the study of human thought, action and behavior; it also offers the opportunity to study the related discipline of criminology and to make links between the 2 subjects; this course is structured as a major/minor combination; if students take psychology as their major subject it is accredited by the British Psychological Society and the degree confers the Graduate Basis for Chartership with the Society (GBC). The BSc(Hons) Psychology with Criminology degree is an exciting and innovative three year full-time programme which can also be studied on a part-time basis. A unique feature of this programme is that in the first year both subjects are studied in equal measure. You will then have the opportunity to decide whether to major in either Psychology or Criminology, continue the remaining subject as a minor. A four year sandwich option is currently undergoing validation. This will offer students the opportunity to gain a valuable full year of work-based learning experience between Levels 2 and 3. This could be particularly advantageous to students who are seriously considering a career as a Chartered Psychologist.
