This course enables students to develop skills in digital journalism and public relations practice across print, screen and internet platforms, alongside an understanding of the local and global political, economic and media contexts in which both industries work; students are immersed in digital production technologies combined with writing, marketing and media strategy skills ensuring they are employable across a range of communication industries in the public and private sector. Students work flexibly, creatively and independently; communicating effectively in written, oral or visual forms; organising and managing supervised, self-directed projects and learning how to communicate in interpersonal and mediated settings. At its core the degree will focus on the management of communications between organisations and the public and grounding you in the key practices, concepts and theories in preparation for work as Journalism, Public Relations, marketing and communications practitioners.
