Our BA(Hons) Interior Design is an exciting course that crosses the boundaries between art and design. Bringing together your creative flair and practical abilities, you will learn the skills required to begin employment in the interior design industry. You will become experienced in designing and making objects and surfaces for the interior spaces of private houses, public and corporate buildings, shops and retail environments, and those for theatre, film and television. On graduation, you will have an impressive portfolio, real-world experience, problem-solving and project management skills, as well as the technical expertise needed for a successful career within your chosen field of interior design. Interior Design is based at Bower Ashton Campus, part of the City Campus, where exceptional facilities and resources include state-of-the-art digital media studios, while production and fabrication workshops offer a combination of traditional tools and the latest technology. You will examine the principles underlying space, detailing, finish, craft and digital processes and develop the conceptual ability and technical skills to design and make for both bespoke one-off projects and industrial production. Guided and empowered to find your own path within the interior design industry, you will learn to view spaces differently and seek new design opportunities within them. You will build the skill base to transform your vision from concept to reality with a real understanding in materials, details and design theory. Regular guest lectures and events will enable you to explore employment opportunities and you will exhibit your work at the University and at external venues.
