Healthcare Science

The FdSc Healthcare Science degree is part of the University's extensive Healthcare and Biomedical science provision and is designed to provide the principal training route for NHS Healthcare Science Associates. This exciting programme is delivered through a unique collaboration between UWE and Cogent, the Skills Council for science-based industry, and local NHS providers. It has been designed directly in response to the Modernising Scientific Careers (MSC) programme at the Department of Health, which has been established to develop a common career pathway, education and training standards for Healthcare Scientists. Students on this programme should already be employed as trainee Healthcare Science Associates, or have secured Higher Apprenticeship training positions, in pathology laboratories, clinical physiology departments or community health centres and will undertake the Foundation degree as part of their training.
