The fashion industry employs over 80,000 people in the UK alone, and excites and inspires global audiences through an increasingly diverse range of media. Alongside print and film, brands use installations, events and online and mobile platforms to communicate their message. To do this well they must have a solid understanding of popular culture, contemporary fashion and how best to apply these to their chosen outlet. Fashion Communication is based at Bower Ashton Campus, part of the City Campus. Exceptional facilities and resources include state-of-the-art digital media studios and our production and fabrication workshops offer a combination of traditional tools and the latest technology. On this creative interdisciplinary course, you will explore approaches towards communicating and promoting fashion. Working primarily with photography, drawing, digital media and film you will explore ideas around fashion and its global dissemination. You will study and apply branding, market analysis and PR to your creative work. As you progress, you will explore the use of digital marketing strategies, future trends and technology's role in fashion. This is applied through project development, which can include online marketing campaigns, web development, promotional films or publications. During your final year, you will showcase your creativity and fashion knowledge through an extended independent design project.
