Creative and Professional Writing - University of the West of England

There are diverse and exciting opportunities for skilled writers across the cultural industries - from stage, screen and radio, to literature, poetry and print. To be successful, professionals need to understand how best to appeal to a range of audiences using available media. This is while being able to align these needs to a professional or creative brief. The internet has led to an exponential increase in the number of media outlets requiring skilled writers both nationally and internationally. As a result, the UK government has highlighted a shortage in professionals with specialist writing skills for this growing number of platforms. On this course, you will develop a strong understanding of the cultural industries - its supply chain and available opportunities. Learning from well-respected professional writers, you will apply your writing skills to meet the needs of different media and audiences through a variety of approaches. These include copy-writing, creative-writing, screen-writing, stage-writing, professional writing, academic writing, writing for digital platforms and writing for performance.
