The BSc (Hons) Building Surveying is aimed at those already working in the industry as well as students wanting to develop the knowledge and skills to succeed in this professional discipline. With 75% of our graduates going into managerial or professional jobs within six months of graduation, a wide range of career options are available on completing the course. These involve working across all stages of the building life-cycle: from construction and design; to refurbishment and conversion; through to management and conservation. Employers include private practice, councils and heritage locations. Thanks to our partnerships with key employers such as Kendall Kingscott, EC Harris, you will get the opportunity to identify your area of interest. This is through site visits, work placements and guest presentations from industry figures and alumni. This course satisfies the academic requirements for full membership of Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS). On completion, you will need at least two years work experience and to pass an Assessment of Professional Competence (APC) before achieving Chartered status. If you undertake a placement during your sandwich year, this may qualify as one year of your APC.
