BA(Hons) Broadcast Journalism (with Foundation Year) is based at UWE Bristol's Frenchay Campus in the foundation year, and at Bower Ashton Studios, part of our City Campus, from year one onwards. Gain an in-depth understanding of the political, economic and media contexts in which journalists work worldwide. Develop your reporting and production skills across print, screen, audio and internet platforms and become highly employable in many communications industries. Work individually and as part of a team to deliver work to live briefs and deadlines, and apply your analytical skills to solve problems and develop imaginative ways of engaging diverse audiences. Build the confidence to work flexibly, creatively and independently and apply theories to issues ranging from representation to ownership, celebrity to conflict. Our strong industry links with Bristol's cultural scene ensure ongoing input from journalists and broadcasters. You’ll benefit from regular guest lectures and take on work placements at companies like the BBC, Bristol Post and other media outlets. Showcase your work to talent scouts and potential employers at the final year Creative Industries Degree Show and graduate with an impressive portfolio of work. Your advanced communications skills will equip you for a career in an expanding sector. Our graduates go on to careers in TV, radio, press and online journalism, web design, publishing, media production, marketing and events management.
