At the same time, you'll also be able to learn a new language, Portuguese. Portuguese is the third most spoken European language (after English and Spanish), and the fastest growing language of Europe (along with Spanish). It is the official language of nine countries. Portuguese is spoken all over the world – in Europe, Africa, Asia and, of course, in South America. Brazil is the fifth largest country in the world with the eighth largest economy. Portuguese is descended from Latin, and is quite closely related to Spanish, French and Italian. At Warwick, you will learn about the linguistic and cultural variations which characterise the Lusophone world.
