French with Arabic - University of Warwick

**Why Warwick?** The University of Warwick is a world-leading university, born out of boldness, imagination and collaboration. We’ve built a strong reputation for upholding the highest academic and research standards. Today, more than 26,000 students thrive in a supportive, welcoming space where everything you need to study, live and have fun is close to hand. Explore what Warwick has to offer, and you’ll develop a skillset that sets you apart, and sets you up to succeed. What that success looks like is up to you. **The course** French with Arabic (25% Arabic) will enable you to develop knowledge and understanding of the language, literature, culture, society and politics of France and the Francophone world, in both a historical and a contemporary perspective, to promote a lasting interest in, and enjoyment of, French cultural variety. At the same time, you'll also be able to learn a new language, Arabic. Arabic can only be taken at beginner level or post-GCSE level maximum. You will develop your linguistic skills by taking a language module in in each year you are at Warwick. By the end of the course you will be expected to reach B2 standard (CEFR) in Arabic (this approximates to A Level). You can spend your year abroad either in a French-speaking country for the whole year, or you can split your time between a French-speaking country and an Arabic-speaking country (subject to the approval of exchange partners). You can go abroad either in year 2 or 3 of your degree.
