Photojournalism & Documentary Photography

Studying Photojournalism & Documentary photography at Swansea gives you the opportunity to be part of a vibrant, innovative course with a passion for photography at its core. Photography can change the way we look at and perceive the world. Using image and text, exhibitions, moving image/multimedia, and applying journalistic principles to assigned briefs and self-initiated ideas, you will develop the ability to interpret and understand the role images play in defining society and our relationships with each other. As well as photojournalism, our graduates go on to a wide range of successful careers, including editorial and commercial photography, picture editing and research, curating, publishing, journalism and teaching. The MArts option allows students to leave with a postgraduate-level course on completion of the fourth year. The final year is designed to facilitate the creation of creative enterprises or collaborative working with industry. During this year students have access to studio space at the Elysium Studios in Swansea and will be working alongside practising artists who have studios based at this location.
