Biomedical Engineering

**Why choose this course** Our BEng and MEng Biomedical Engineering courses are taught by leading academics, drawing on over 50 years’ experience training biomedical engineers. You’ll learn in our £12.5m Innovation for Health Learning Laboratory, and have the opportunity to take a Professional Training placement at organisations like GE Healthcare, DePuy Synthes, 3M and the NHS. Students on this course also have a great track record in prestigious healthcare technologies competitions run by the Institution of Engineering and Technology and the Institution of Mechanical Engineers. 90 per cent of our graduates are employed in a professional or managerial job within six months (Unistats). **What you will study** With a strong focus on clinical applications, our biomedical engineering courses explore a broad curriculum. This includes human movement, biosensors, prosthesis design, biomedical signal processing and implant technology, among other topics. As a biomedical engineering student, you’ll also be a part of Surrey’s pioneering ‘Innovation for Health’ project, designed to bring together computer, data and health scientists to develop technologies that’ll change the future of healthcare. You can apply to study for either a BEng or MEng (Master of Engineering). The MEng builds on the BEng course with a masters year, and is a direct route to a masters qualification. Depending on your progress, you may have the option to switch to a BEng or MEng during your studies.
