Media Production with Integrated Foundation Year

This is a four-year version of our popular BA (Hons) Media Production course, with an integrated foundation year. Get practical training in producing TV and radio shows. Cover the academic study of the media, film and culture. Study in our dedicated Media Centre, home to BBC Newcastle, MADE in Tyne and Wear and our award winning Spark Radio and TV. Join a Creative Skillset Tick awarded course which best prepares you for a career in the industry. In the first year – the foundation year – you will study 4 modules; a subject-related module, a numeracy skills module, a study skills-related module called 'Succeeding at University and Beyond' and a foundation project module. After completion of this foundation year, you will then move onto the Media Production honours degree course. Media Production BA (Hons) has been awarded the Creative Skillset Tick, the industry kitemark of quality, following a rigorous assessment process by experts working in the Creative Industries. The Creative Skillset Tick is awarded to practice-based courses which best prepare students for a career in the industry. As part of your training, you will undertake a series of practical projects, making full use of the University’s TV studios, radio studios, editing suites and other facilities. In your final year, you will get to choose one of three routes which will lead to either BA (Hons) Media Production, BA (Hons) Media Production (TV) or BA (Hons) Media Production (Radio). You will develop and pitch ideas and produce a major piece of work in your chosen medium.
