Sports Psychology for Football

Psychologists are the people in a football club who interact with players, coaches and other specialists to optimise performance by understanding human behaviour. Students will gain the theoretical and practical skillset to coach in elite sport. Subject themes develop the core disciplines of sport and exercise science (psychology, physiology and biomechanics) with additional football physiology specialist content. This includes the social environment of elite football settings, applying psychological theory through skills training to support player performance, and enabling players to overcome distractions including hostile environments, injury, fatigue and stress.
