Operating Department Practice

The BSc (Hons) Operating Department Practice course is validated by the HCPC Health and Care Professions Council and endorsed by CODP College of Operating Department Practitioners Operating Department Practitioners are highly skilled practitioners who work in all areas of the perioperative environment. The course will ensure students have the necessary skills to attain clinical competence in all areas of Operating Department Practice while having a sound knowledge base of the underpinning scientific principles. Students will develop good interpersonal skills and the ability to assess, plan and deliver a high standard of individualised patient care. The course is a dynamic and forward looking programme that focusses on developing all students’ potential and will prepare graduates for a career in healthcare. Whilst primarily focused on the Operating Theatre environment, graduates will also have the necessary skills and knowledge to provide patient care in other clinical and non-clinical areas. The BSc (Hons) ODP course works in close partnership with a range of Service Partners to ensure that all clinical exposure is relevant to the modern NHS and adheres to the NHS Core Values and Principles.
