History and Law

Students are introduced to the structure of the English Legal system and key aspects of law alongside History based modules. History and Law have their own distinct subject rationale, aims, learning outcomes and modes of assessment, but also offer the possibility of interdisciplinary connections that can be made by self-motivated, independent-minded and intellectually ambitious students. Some of the interesting areas that have grown in importance during the last decade include advocacy, advice, community justice, crime prevention, dispute resolution and mediation, employment law and aspects of property law. Graduates of this programme are well prepared for potential careers in these areas.
