This degree is designed to perfect your linguistic, cultural, sociopolitical and historical knowledge of the regions of the world's second most spoken language. You will experience the rich diversity of Spanish cultures, develop your language skills and increase your understanding of the cultures, languages and history of Spain and Latin America. Modern languages and linguistics at Southampton is consistently ranked in the top five in the UK by The Guardian University Guide and we are ranked fifth in the UK for the quality of our research (REF 2014). Teaching and learning is supported by three research centres, Transnational Studies, Global Englishes and Applied Language Research. You will be able to learn another language such as Arabic, Chinese, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Portuguese or Russian from scratch, and reach graduate level in French, Italian, German and Portuguese.
