Film and Philosophy with Year Abroad

Applying for the BA Film and Philosophy degree is a joint degree that allows you to spend time studying both subjects. Film studies dissects film narrative, providing a powerful insight into what makes a great film. Whereas the study of Philosophy enables students to achieve a broader spectrum of thinking, the opportunity to see what others don't and helps to provide answers to life’s larger questions. Film and Philosophy is an exciting and challenging combination that provides a critical understanding of film as popular entertainment, industry and art form. Philosophy and Film are both subjects that require theoretical discipline, imagination, the ability to analyse complex texts and to communicate clearly and with flair. As well as fostering similar skill sets, they often offer complementary perspectives on topics ranging from the value of art and social mores to national identity and politics.
