Sports Coaching

The sports coaching degree is for students who want to join the sports coaching profession. It has been designed in consultation with national governing bodies (NGB) for sport to ensure that graduates are ready for a career in coaching. Your studies provide the opportunity to develop the knowledge and skills required for UKCC Level 1/2 and 1st 4Sport coaching qualifications, which will enhance your career prospects. Placement opportunities are provided for a variety of roles and are a valuable opportunity to practise your coaching. These placements are supported by local authorities and NGBs, so you can follow specialist coaching pathways in your chosen area or sport. Traditional coaching pathways include cricket, hockey, netball, swimming, squash, tennis, gymnastics, and athletics. This sports coaching course is designed to prepare you for a career in sports coaching in a variety of roles. These could include participant coach, performance coach, multi-skills coach, community coach, PE teacher (following completion of a PGCE), or you could work in the sports development industry.
