This is a world-renowned Film degree, teaching students to tell powerful, original stories through film. It focuses on film-making practice, craft skills and creative storytelling. It has a practical emphasis that provides professional-level training, underpinned by academic content. You will explore storytelling, making a variety of short films, both fiction and documentary. You will learn industry standard skills in cinematography, sound and editing technology. Film has been taught at the University for nearly 50 years. Our expertise in film-making and the reputation of our alumni is acknowledged internationally across the industry. We are full members of CILECT, the international association of film and television schools, which represents the gold standard in the industry. Our graduates have worked for the BBC and independent film, TV and radio companies across the world. Increasingly, our award-winning film graduates also set up their own production companies.
