Computer Applications Development (Including Foundation Year)

If you do not have the right subjects or grades to enrol directly onto our BSc (Hons) Computer Applications Development degree, this course offers an alternative route into degree study with an additional foundation year. The foundation year focuses on the study of computing and mathematics in order to provide a good numerical background that will support you throughout the remainder of the degree. The Computer Applications Development degree will prepare you to work in a variety of exciting roles developing software and systems. It has a strong practical element and you will gain expertise in how to develop information systems and manage software projects. This software development course builds on a foundation of ‘core computing’ and introduces you to software development, web development, information engineering, computer architecture and operating systems. You’ll develop more focused skills to develop the kinds of system most modern organisations use, for example, using mobile and desktop client software to access complex data sets using web services. Computer systems are fundamental to many industries, so you can apply your skills in many fields. Companies of all sizes need project managers, software developers, information managers, web application developers, and more. This course offers you a thorough grounding in the skills needed to open up a flexible career in computing.
