This degree offers a huge range of choice - with experts in music from Mozart to Bjork, from music technology to Broadway, embracing music from across Europe, Africa, Asia and the Americas, you can study what you interests you the most. Our degree programme is carefully designed to develop your skills as an independent musician and music researcher, from your first year core modules - which support your transition from school to university - to writing an original research-led dissertation, giving a full-length recital or creating a composition portfolio in your final year. Opportunities include taking part in the University Concerts series, which features around 100 performances a year. Students have the chance to write for our New Music Ensemble and can audition to conduct or play a concerto with our Symphony and Chamber Orchestras. Sound Junction offers regular opportunities to use music technology to create electroacoustic compositions and to meet leading acousmatic composers from around the world. Our students have enjoyed success in a range of musical careers, including both classical and popular performance. They work as a music journalists and have experience of composing for film and television, with one recent graduate recording their music at Abbey Road Studios, for example. Many also continue to masters or doctorate level. You'll also find our graduates in organisations ranging from Penguin Publishing to the Royal Opera House.
