Sheffield is among the Russell Group top ten for research output in this discipline, so you can expect to encounter concepts that will expand your horizons. Our expertise covers a lot of ground, including scientific programming and practical and applied statistics.
The three-year BSc isn’t quite as advanced as the four-year MMath, which includes a major research project, but you will still have the opportunity to specialise and possibly even switch to a different degree (in the School of Mathematics and Statistics) later in the course.
Our graduates continue to surprise us, pursuing careers in everything from advertising to weather forecasting. Many go into finance, as accountants or actuaries, with firms like KPMG and PricewaterhouseCoopers. Other employers include GCHQ, British Airways and the European Space Agency.
