At Sheffield we pride ourselves on finding new and exciting ways to immerse our students in Hispanic cultures. This includes visits from Spanish and Latin American writers, film makers and scholars, some filmmaking of your own, and the chance to take part in Hispanic plays and concerts. We teach Spanish in small groups, often led by native speakers. We also offer a beginners course for students who don’t have A Level Spanish. Roughly thirty per cent of your time is devoted to studying Polish language and culture in the Department of Russian and Slavonic Studies. You will spend your third year studying or working in Poland and Spain – or a Latin American country. Choosing a degree like this one is often the first step towards a richer intellectual and cultural life. A second language, and experience of living and studying in another culture are big advantages in the jobs market too, particularly if you want an international career. Graduates go into teaching, translating, journalism, broadcasting, government, business and non-profits.
