This combination of subjects gives you a detailed understanding of two key areas of molecular bioscience, how they relate to each other and where they overlap in the field of molecular genetics.
Sheffield offers plenty of flexibility: after the second year, you can switch to any other undergraduate course in the Department of Molecular biology and Biotechnology (MBB).
You can graduate after three years with a BSc or choose the optional fourth year which includes an extensive research project and leads to the qualification of MBiolSci.
The Times Good University Guide has put Sheffield in the UK top five for biosciences every year since 2009. The Research Excellence Framework (REF) 2014 ranks us No 1 in the UK for medically related research. MBB graduates work in agrochemicals, food safety, forensic science, healthcare and pharmaceuticals.
