Civil and Structural Engineering (4 years)

Sheffield is a solid first choice for civil engineering. The Guardian University Guide 2017 rates us 3rd in the UK. Both the QS World University Rankings 2017 and the Academic Ranking of World Universities 2016 put us among the world’s top 50 for this subject. The academic standard is high. We work closely with our partners in industry to develop course content. And first-year students are mentored by professionals. It’s a demanding course that rewards commitment. In the third year for example, you will take the structural engineering lead on a project to design an eco-town or urban regeneration site. It takes initiative, organisational skill, and hard work – all vital attributes for a professional. The course is accredited by the Institution of Civil Engineers, the Institution of Structural Engineers, the Chartered Institution of Highways and Transportation, and the Institute of Highway Engineers. Graduates work all over the world for companies including Amey, Arup, Mott MacDonald, URS, Kier and VolkerFitzpatrick Ltd.
