Our four-year BSc with Placement Year focuses on whole-organism biology. This degree allows you to do a year-long, paid work placement between your second and third year. You'll pay reduced fees for the year you're on placement. You'll also have regular contact with your tutor and all the support you need from the University. We have a dedicated tutor to help you find a placement, and our Careers Service is on hand to offer support and advice. Specialist modules cover animal behaviour, evolutionary biology, ecology, genetics, climate change and molecular biology. Other options include biology and ethics, biotechnology and food, reproduction, genetics and genomics. You can also take modules in biomedical science, molecular and microbiology, even philosophy. There are over 60 modules to choose from, including optional field courses in the Peak District National Park, Anglesey, Ireland, Arctic Sweden, the Mediterranean, the tropical rainforest in Malaysian Borneo, and Tanzania.
