Quantity Surveying (Accelerated Degree)

**What is an Accelerated Degree?** The School of the Built Environment now offers a new mode of study for many of its undergraduate courses; the Accelerated Degree. Whilst covering the same content as a traditional three year undergraduate degree, the accelerated degree is taught over three trimesters rather than two semesters. This more intense mode of study means that you can complete your degree in a shorter period of time, therefore allowing you to progress more quickly into work or further study. If you choose to study Quantity Surveying full-time as an accelerated degree, you will complete it in two years rather than three. You still have the option to complete a placement with this mode of study, with the full-time accelerated degree with placement taking three years to complete. The traditional three year full-time and five year part-time options for this course are still available. **Quantity Surveying** This course is accredited by several professional institutions including the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS), the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) and the Chartered Institution of Civil Engineering Surveyors (ICES), ensuring that you will be educated to the highest industry standards. Quantity surveyors manage and control financial aspects of the construction process and may also specialise in construction contract law, insurance and procurement. They work on behalf of contracting organisations or representatives of the client, aiming to maximise value and ensure that the project is completed within budget. As quantity surveyors often act as project managers, you will learn how to select, manage and coordinate the resources needed for the completion of a construction project. You will be taught how use to computing resources to financially manage the development, construction and long-term operation of buildings. This programme is also available as a Degree Apprenticeship. In order to apply for the apprenticeship route, please email us at apprenticeships@salford.ac.uk or alternatively, complete our online enquiry form on our website (www.salford.ac.uk/degree-apprenticeships). Please do not apply through UCAS for this mode of study as this is not the correct route to apply for a Degree Apprenticeship programme. In order to do a Degree Apprenticeship, you must be employed full-time in a relevant role and your employer must be willing to sponsor you. If you are not currently employed, you can find apprenticeship vacancies on the gov.uk portal here - www.gov.uk/apply-apprenticeship
