This course provides you with a strong business education in preparation for an exciting career as a marketing professional or as a basis for other managerial careers. You will also have opportunities to study a language, study on an international exchange and take up work experience placements abroad. The programme supports entrepreneurial initiative and our Marketing students often establish their own business while they study with the support of our Enterprise team. On this course, your learning will be industry relevant and career-focused. You will be taught by committed tutors who have international experience and are experts in their field. Your own expertise in marketing will be developed through modules such as Consumer Behaviour, Market Research and Services and Relationship Marketing. Your employment prospects will be strengthened through subjects like Human Resource Management, Accounting and Law in a Business Context, as well as specialist options in each year, such as Organisations in a Global Environment and Operations Management. The programme also offers a wide range of learning outside the classroom to develop your practical experience including the opportunity to work with staff from the University’s Marketing department to get a better understanding of Marketing in the ‘real world’. The Professional Development module in the second year helps you to develop the skills you need – presentation skills, networking, interview techniques etc – to move more easily into successful employment. All subject areas throughout the course are approached from an international perspective and you will have the option of learning an additional language to help you communicate and succeed in today's increasingly global economy. Through the Study Abroad programme, you could choose to spend your second year studying on an international exchange with one of our global partner institutions in Europe, the US or the rest of the world. You can enhance your career options with a year-long industrial placement giving you the opportunity to apply the skills, knowledge and understanding you have gained in the first two years of the course. You will work with an employer which could be a local, national or international organisation – in 2016-17 these included such as Adidas and Agilent Technologies. During this year, you will not pay fees to the University and will earn a wage for the work that you do. There are different entry requirements and course codes for the Professional Experience Year option. This degree is also offered with a Foundation Year.
