This course will help you gain a detailed understanding of the theory and practical applications required to develop a career in international events management. The programme includes an overseas business visit and you will also have opportunities to study a language, study on an international exchange and take up work experience placements abroad. You will work on group projects and business simulations, giving you invaluable practical knowledge of events organisations. You will also learn how to put practical strategies into practice for hosting international events connected to sports, concerts, festivals, tourism, exhibitions and corporate hospitality. The Professional Development module in the second year helps you to develop the skills you need – presentation skills, networking, interview techniques etc – to move more easily into successful employment. Over the progression of this course, you will have every opportunity to develop an exciting career as an international events management professional. In addition, you will gain a strong business education which will prepare you for a wide range of managerial careers. Through the Study Abroad programme, you could choose to spend your second year studying on an international exchange with one of our global partner institutions in Europe, the US or the rest of the world. You can enhance your career options with a year-long industrial placement giving you the opportunity to apply the skills, knowledge and understanding you have gained in the first two years of the course. You will work with an employer which could be a local, national or international organisation - in recent years, students have worked on placement in the UK with international organisations and worked abroad with foreign based businesses. During this year, you will not pay fees to the University and will earn a wage for the work that you do. There are different entry requirements and course codes for the Professional Experience Year option.
