With growing demand for qualified civil engineers, our accredited course is the gateway to a challenging and rewarding profession. Led by our IStructE award-winning team, we’ll equip you with knowledge and skills ready to help create the infrastructure of the future. Accredited by the Joint Board of Moderators (Institution of Structural Engineers, Institution of Civil Engineers, Chartered Institution of Highways and Transportation and the Institute of Highway Engineers) as fully satisfying the educational base for an Incorporated Engineer (IEng), you’ll meet highest professional standards. Course content is drawn from across the civil engineering spectrum. You’ll study structures, materials, mathematics and geology. You’ll build knowledge in design and construction management, highways and geotechnics. You’ll experience Constructionarium - a practical residential field course at the National Construction College. If you choose the MEng pathway, you’ll advance to study water management and transport design. Based on the principles of civil engineering, you’ll follow a hands-on approach to develop the skills you’ll need in your career. Learning takes place in our Peel Park campus, minutes from central Manchester, home to world-famous feats of engineering and the largest construction hub outside London. We’ll also encourage you to take an additional placement to gain workplace experience, adding ‘with professional experience’ to your degree award. **Features** - Gain understanding and ability to fulfil a range of civil engineering surveying tasks, land surveying and quantity surveying - Develop your ability to design simple structural steel, analyse statically indeterminate structures and design complex structures - Identify and manage environmental issues and associated risks relating to civil engineering, including water, transport, landscape, heritage and biodiversity - Learn about materials and their fundamental behaviour, including construction materials, geology, soil mechanics and laboratory testing. - Develop professional knowledge, design and analytical skills towards Chartered Engineer status, learning about associated social, legal and environmental issues
