This course provides an academically challenging and vocationally relevant business education with an understanding of the key issues facing sports organisations. It is ideal if you are looking to move into sports management – or if you are interested in general business and love sport. You will become an adaptable person who recognises the need for change and who can act as an agent for change through an understanding of the inter- relationships which exist within the Sport Management field. You will learn to appreciate the concepts and characteristics of Sport Management as an area of academic and applied study. This will develop your ability to learn independently helping you develop towards a career in sport management and other management opportunities. With some exceptional partnerships with sports organisations and a dedicated Centre for Sports Business that offers expertise in sports analytics, economics and finance, Salford Business School can offer you exciting opportunities to learn both in the classroom and outside. The Professional Development module in the second year helps you to develop the skills you need – presentation skills, networking, interview techniques etc – to move more easily into successful employment. This course is also available with a Professional Experience Year, giving you the opportunity to apply the skills, knowledge and understanding you have gained in the first two years of the course. If you choose to take the professional year option, you will not pay fees to the University and will earn a wage for the work that you do. There are different entry requirements and course codes for the Professional Experience Year option. This degree is also offered with a Foundation Year.
