You will build awareness of business practices linked to Events Management. You will study core aspects of business as well as distinct specialist modules in Events and Hospitality. You will apply your knowledge and understanding to practical projects and the work environment as part of the work based placement module. This will help to This course will allow you to gain an appreciation of theory alongside the practical skills needed to be an international tourism manager. You will be given the opportunity to study overseas on European Union-funded modules such as Destination Analysis, Rural Tourism and International Conference Tourism as two week intensive programmes. You will also gain an understanding of the impacts of current international initiatives around tourism leadership and innovation. There are opportunities for international exchanges with our global partner institutions and the option of a one year industrial placement either in the UK or overseas. By your final year you will be able to analyse tourism systems and make recommendations to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of operations in respect of stakeholders including consumers, employees, shareholders and the government. This course is also available with a Professional Experience Year, giving you the opportunity to apply the skills, knowledge and understanding you have gained in the first two years of the course. If you choose to take the professional year option, you will not pay fees to the University and will earn a wage for the work that you do.
