Building Surveying (Accelerated Degree)

**What is an Accelerated Degree?** The School of the Built Environment now offers a new mode of study for many of its undergraduate courses; the Accelerated Degree. Whilst covering the same content as a traditional three year undergraduate degree, the accelerated degree is taught over three trimesters rather than two semesters. This more intense mode of study means that you can complete your degree in a shorter period of time, therefore allowing you to progress more quickly into work or further study. If you choose to study Building Surveying full-time as an accelerated degree, you will complete it in two years rather than three. You still have the option to complete a placement with this mode of study, with the full-time accelerated degree with placement taking three years to complete. The traditional three year full-time and five year part-time options for this course are still available. **Building Surveying** This course is accredited by the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS), meaning that you will be educated to the highest industry standards. As this programme is the gateway to professional status, it will develop your professional and technical skills specific to building surveying, as well as your presentation, communication and collaboration skills, which are vital in everyday life in practice. Building surveyors are sought after professionals, and the work of a chartered building surveyor can be varied or involve high levels of specialism. A chartered building surveyor can be involved in a construction project from its inception, through design and procurement, to managing its fulfilment, and eventually overseeing the building in use. This course combines academic study with the application of professional skills and competencies and is taught through a combination of academic study and project work. You will work with students from other related courses, mirroring the multidisciplinary, team-based approach of the modern construction and property industry. This programme is also available as a Degree Apprenticeship. In order to apply for the apprenticeship route, please email us at apprenticeships@salford.ac.uk or alternatively, complete our online enquiry form on our website (www.salford.ac.uk/degree-apprenticeships). Please do not apply through UCAS for this mode of study as this is not the correct route to apply for a Degree Apprenticeship programme. In order to do a Degree Apprenticeship, you must be employed full-time in a relevant role and your employer must be willing to sponsor you. If you are not currently employed, you can find apprenticeship vacancies on the gov.uk portal here - www.gov.uk/apply-apprenticeship
